I grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, surrounded by artists. After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts from The University of Pennsylvania, I worked as an art director at advertising agencies in Boston and New York. In 2005 I co-authored The New York Times bestseller The Faith Club, which chronicled my interfaith relationship with two other New York mothers following the events of 9/11. At the end of a long national book tour, in order to heal from the panic attacks that had plagued me for decades, I began studying Buddhism and meditation, then chronicled my adventures with mystics, therapist, healers and teachers in another best-selling memoir called Learning to Breathe. When I found the raw material I'd been searching for in a portfolio of my childhood art, I created the work that inspired this website.
